I always wanted to make a geometric sanserif typeface with a Humanistic touch. Upon seeing Nobel (1929), designed by Sjoerd Hendrik de Roos and Dick Dooijes, I was gravitated towards reviving it with even more traditional impressions added. As Tobias Frere-Jones interestingly described Nobel as “Futura cooked in dirty pots and pans,” my goal became this: cooking Nobel in dirtier pots and pans.
