Henri Italic
Source material: Robert Granjon’s Cicéro (1565)
Spring semester 2021
Borrowing Italic shapes from Robert Granjon’s cicéro(1565), Henri Italic is designed to accompany Henri Roman, a revival typeface of Hendrik van den Keere’s Two-Line Double Pica Roman (1573) that I developed in Spring 2020. The skeleton of Henri Italic such as weight, x-height, and width is set to be compatible with that of Herni Roman. I heard from the grapevine that Robert Granjon once taught Hendrik van den Keere, which gave me joy to know that the former teacher and the student now work together as Henri's family members.
