Remix Heavy is building off of the typeface I drew back in Fall ’19 which was based on Ludlow's Record Gothic (Robert Hunter Middleton, 1927). This time around, I wanted to expand the family and add heavy and (eventually) light weights in order to better understand how drawings translate across the range. Although Record Gothic does actually have a bold available, I used Franklin Gothic as a reference for the heavy weight. This enabled me to pick and choose a bit, and forced an interpretive approach to redrawing.
